As a certified consulting hypnotist, I continually educate people on the benefits of hypnosis and how it can change unwanted behaviors. In every conversation, it seems like we always stray over to the power of hypnosis and we talk about how hypnosis can be used in many different applications... for example in dental hypnosis. Now, lets be clear here, I am not a dentist, nor do I practice dental hypnosis, but I have talked to and interviewed patients that have undergone dental hypnosis and quite simply... it works. Hypnosis has helped dental patients overcome dental phobias and tolerate procedures without anesthesia. If you or someone you love could benefit from dental hypnosis, I would recommend looking into - it is a viable alternative. I wanted to share this information with you - so here is a link to a great YouTube video. Please post your thoughts and comments. Are you ready for the holidays? We did it last year and the year before, and we survived, and here we are now, going into Thanksgiving 2015 - and we know we'll do the same thing. So I have come up with a strategy for you that may help reduce the food and alcohol intake we all can often abuse on this important occasion. Water is your friend. So use it throughout the day to try and keep your stomach filled. Imm not talking about drinking so much that you are uncomfortable, but drinking a good 8 - 10 large (16 ounce) glasses of water throughout the day will help keep you hydrated and also keep some volume in your stomach. Do you have any holiday strategies that you use to help control overeating? Tell us. Please share your thoughts here in the comments below. Thats when everyone starts putting out treats around the office, places like Starbucks and grocery stores start making lovely and enticing cookies and treats. James Esdaile (1808 - 1859) was a Scottish medical doctor that was stationed in Hoogly, India with the British East India Company during the 19th Century. While there, he performed over 300 major surgical operations including amputations using hypnotic techniques. Not only was he renown for painless surgeries, but his post-operative work helped reduced shock among his patients and improved recovery rates. His work came to the attention of British-Indian authorities that convened a panel of seven officials to investigate the wide-spread claims of Esdaile's painless surgeries. The investigators validated the claims and Esdaile went on to practice his form of hypnotic medical arts at a hospital in Calcutta. Esdaile's work is critical to modern hypnosis as it laid the ground work for hypnotic processes in contemporary medical procedures. Today, thousands of patients that cannot tolerate anesthesia and many mothers who prefer to deliver their children naturally are able to take advantage of medical hypnosis as an alternative to narcotics. Webster's dictionary describes it incorrectly as an artificially induced sleep, but is actually a natural state of mind and induced normally in everyday living much more often than it is induced artificially. Every time we become engrossed in a novel or a motion picture, we are in a natural hypnotic trance. From Charles Tebbetts' Miracles on Demand. pp. 211 - 212 |
